Can anyone give us some ideas on how to change the oil on the Cub Cadet 1027; with the internal bagging system. When you slip the drain attachment on, it runs uphill so the oil spills over; it is impossible to "put an appropriate" receptical under the hole. Thanks!

I can not respond to changing the oil on a cub cadet model 1027 but i am in need of info regarding this model. the one I have looked at is a 1998 model 1027 i thought it was referred to as a lawn bug or yard bug because of it's shape mainly. I have not been able to find any info on this unit. I would like to know what was the price of them new and approximately what would it be worth now some 5-6 years later? it is in good shape and runs. Does it only have one speed forward and how fast does it go? Does it have a side discharge kit or mulching only kit? Does the bag hold much grass? I have been told that MTD made the later models, has the quality remained the same? What type battery does it take and are they more expensive than the typical lawn a garden types? any info would be appreciated since I have had a hard time locating any info on this mower? Thanks

I attach the drain attachment by hitting it with a hammer until its firmly in place. I then use a old "all" detergent bottle (med size) and place it next to the belt guard (slightly tilted forward). I then apply pressure to the drain attachment so that it slopes down and into the "all" bottle. I use a socket wrench and extension without any socket to loosen the drain plug. This has worked great for me.
Good Luck
