I installed the new diaphragm as suggested, with little success. The only way I could get the lawn mower running was by pouring gas directly in the carburator and then only after repeated pulls would it start. Once running it doesn't want to hit high revs, and when you attempt to cut thick grass it's basically gutless. I took the recoil off and turned the fly wheel by hand and it sure didn't feel like there was much compression, but I'm not sure there is when the engines cold, but I suspect there should be more than I encountered. I think this motors a piece of crap, but any more suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

hey rod, take the time to remove the head, use a wire bush on your protable drill to remove the carbon build up on the piston and around the valves. this will give ya a chance to look at the cly. walls also..sometimes you need to make a self made ajustment to the governor linkage(pointed pliers)

Could be as simple as a valve adjustment.
