I have a problem with the mower deck not mowing level. The front of the deck is low, and the back of the deck is high. Which makes the middle blade mow lower than the out side blades. If any one has a solution sure would like to hear from you. Thanks Mark

If yours is a late 1970's or early 1980's deck the rear hooks are adjustable to compensate for that, raise them to a higher hole, if you have an older version you can shorten the front section on the sicsors lift to raise the front of the deck.

Check the bronze bushings in the scissor lift. If they are worn or gone it will allow front to ride low. Does your deck have the adjustable scalp rollers on the front? If not check to see if the rollers are worn allowing the deck to run low. Both problems could exist. Pete

If the center blade is cutting lower than the two outside blades, the center blade may be bent down on one end or both ends. Front to back height should not affect the height that the center blade cuts.

Well, actually it does make a difference; since the center blade is located slightly ahead of the outer blades a "low" front deck will cause the center blade to cut lower. Check for worn bushings (and bolts) and rollers as Pete says.

However, as you say Billy, a bent blade will have the same result. This was a common problem with the earlier aluminum 42" deck which had a longer center blade which was a bit "flimsey".

There should be some kind of adjustment on the deck or lift to get it level. Check out one of the Ford or Jacobson clubs. They can tell you how.
