I have put the motor back together but when i went about putting the govenor arm and throttle linkage i had to remove the govenor nut that goes into the block. Well that took the gover rod out of place inside the block and i cant get it back in. Is there a way to put it back in place without tearing apart the motor again??

Did the rod fall to the bottom of the crank case?
or did it just slide inside the block to the point you cannot see it from the exterior?
If it just slid inside the block but is still in the hole try a magnet to pull it back out.
If it came completely out of the hole in the block
you will have to pull the pan off the bottom of the motor and see if you can slide it back in the hole and secure with the nut.If you cannot get to it from the bottom end there is an access plug pressed into the block. Drill a hole in the plug holding a magnet to the plug to capture ALL the chips.Run a sheet metal screw into the hole and pull the plug out.Don't discard the plug as I am not sure it can be replaced,I weld the hole up hammer back into shape(slight cup to it)and put it back in with a little sealer.
Hope this helps.
