I own a 1972 MTD, 16 HP Brigs & Straten Garden Tractor with 3 Point Hitch. It has ben reconditioned and needs a replacement 42" Mower Deck. It has a shaft connecting power to the deck. Do you have on in good shape? Do you know of somone that might have one? Is there other Brands that will work? THANK YOU, LANNY

I have a '69 10 hp and a 12hp MTD.
I rebuilt the 10 hp over the winter.
The MTD owners and service manual was available from MTD, but the clutch shown in the manual was not the same as in either tractor.
I'm attaching a picture of my clutch (pre-rebuild)
I can scan the clutch removal page if you like.
I tightened up on the clutch adjustment as much as it would go, adding a few washers to get more travel, then I was able to slide the clutch plate around. A word of caution though, too much tension on the clutch assembly snapped the chain. I replaced it with a standard BMX bike chain.
The book says to pull the right angle drive to access the clutch assy. but with my setup it was easier to pull the engine.
