My father has a international cub cadet riding lawn mower. It is yellow and white and is about 35 years old and still works. Is this mower worth anything to a collector or mower fan. Please let us no were kind of curious. He also has the original manual for it.

Yes, older Cub Cadets of every model are sought after for both working tractors and collectors items. Even if it were in rough shape and didn't run, it would still have parts value.

Check the site below.

If your Cub Cadet has no model number on the hood, and Cub Cadet is written in spript, it is likely what is called an Original. They do have value, especially if you have a lower serial number and the tractor has options on it. You can find the serial number on the right side (as you sit on it) of the transmission casing. It will be hand stamped into it, roughly in the area of the stick but on the side of the case.

You can look up your date of production in the information pages at the site below.

Surprisingly there are still a lot of them out there. My landlord has one of your vintage, he used to have 3. A neighbor has one. They are very durable. If it runs and mows fairly well it should be worth at least 300-500 or more. Search more on the web. Type in "antique garden tractor" or antique cub cadet through the google search engine. Yahoo groups should have at least 3-5 groups for Cub Cadet. I have seen pictures posted by collectors that own a dozen or more. Its a healthier hobby than downing 4 beer cans after work every day.

The only other thing I can think of to figure its value it to call around to lawn equipment dealers. Some of them use a book from, I think it is "Interco" that lists trade in values of used lawn equipment. There is probably a ratio to convert its real value. Trade in value is a lot less than its actual value. You may need to call several dealers before you find a "patient helpfull" dealer. Boyd.
