582 cub where one wire goes

Hi all, the ? is 582 cub with B&s twin . the rectifier has 2 yellow wires from engine , the red wire where does it go to from the rectifier. thanz a bunch Dan

That wire goes to the R (rectifier) terminal on the key switch. It should have a plastic coupling and it is a diode wire. Briggs does sell the diode wire separate if yours is missing. The wire from your key switch may be black.

The diode is built into the wire that comes off the regulator.
