Hi. I am considering an Ariens S-14 tractor for my loader/backhoe project (i.e. these items will be built around it). Does anyone have any comments on using this tractor for such a thing (as compared to another contenter the Cub Cadet 1250 or 1512?). The Ariens has 3PTOs, which seems pretty convienient.

Also, what about parts for the Ariens are they still readily avaliable? On this board I have seen a lot of references to a New Holland S-14, is this the same tractor with a different badge?

Any comments would be appreciated.

You better buy that tractor! quick! It's a steal!
Yes it's mine so I am one sided!

The NH was only made one or two years I think. A local JD dealer had one that was in great shape for $2200! 1970 model at that!
Any bearings I buy locally from a bearing shop (at least the wheel/deck stuff) as the Ariens stuff costs much more. The K321 was put in a lot of mowers (brands) and you can find parts for them anywhere.
I have never seen one with a rear end problem, only the motor gutted out. Ariens were popular around here for years as our (only) local dealer carried them. I heard they are big in PA and IL/MI also.
I liked the Ariens GT as they will accept any implement from all the years they were made. Forward thinking by Ariens, plus they had many features standard that other brands didn't have. How many tractors came with front/mid/rear PTO and hydraulics? Everything was shaft drive so you only have two belts on the whole tractor.
I'll help with any questions you have..

It is the same as New Holland - Ariens made them. Most parts are still available I think but pricey. Other than that a good, well made tractor.

The Eriens tractors are good tractors but with the equipment mentioned it might be a bit weak in the rear. The rearend housing is aluminum as oposed to cast. If you don't abuse it you should be OK.
