Allis 616, enough power?

I'm wondering if any of you folks with experience operating any of the Simplicity Powermax tractors can comment on the Allis 616 or Simplicity 4040?

I've been looking for an Allis 720/620/616, and am wondering whether the 16.5 horse Onan was enough engine to spin that 60" deck. I noticed that the 616 was only out for like one year, before they went to the 19.5 horse Onan in the model 620. Perhaps this was because the 16 was a little short in the power dept? I'm wondering whether I should be shying away from the 616, and stay with the 620/720 in my search? My only intention is to use it as a mowing machine, to keep up to 5 acres groomed.

Any advice, related experience would be much appreciated.

In my opinion 16 isn't enough power unless you keep grass mowed often as high or wet grass will really slow you down. I'd go with the bigger engine. Usually if they only made something for one year it was because it had problems because they aren't making any money only producing something for one year. I don't have any personal experience with this tractor - just my general knowledge of H.P. vs. size.
