I just replaced the solenoid on my Broadmoor. It is wired as per the instruction diagram. The problem is when I connect the positive side of the battery, the engine turns over and starts. The cable from the starter and the cabnle from the + side of the battery are shown on the same pole on the solenoid.

Sounds like you got a lousey set of directions. Cable from battery should go on one side and cable to starter to other.

I finally have the mower (with snow blade) up and running. I have the Simplicity manual here in front of me. The parts diagram shows the + and -- from the battery on the same pole with the starter-generator and a fused line to the amp meter on the other pole by itself. The schematic on the same page shows the + and -- on opposite sides of the solenoid, which is correct. No problem now. Thanks.
