I have an opportunity to purchase a 1974 Bolens Hydro lawn tractor. Unfortunately, I do not recall the model number but I will describe it as best I can. It has approx. 48" deck, hydraulic lift in the front, rear, and the deck. The tractor has a PTO on the side of which will go either front or rear. It has a Wisconsin engine that burns a little oil, otherwise it is in excellent running condition. The tractor comes with a snow plow, rear plow? and a homemade ditwitch. The owner is asking $1,500. I am interested in this tractor but am unsure of the value. Can anyone tell me if this is a fair price?

Thanks in advance,
Lou

Knowing model # would definatley help in determing value ( or at least H.P. if you know it) to determine any kind of value. I think you have year wrong as they quit using Wisconsin engines in 1972 - unless it's been changed of course. Also whether it is medium (tube) frame or large (channel) frame makes a huge difference in value.

Thanks for everyones comments.

Bill, how can I tell which frame it has? Is the tube frame made from pipe? I don't recall seeing any pipe. I know everything else is in excellent running condition. Must be a 72' or earlier because the engine is orginal and a Wisconsin. I think the HP is 12. I have seen other similar Bolens on the net priced about half of the machine I am looking at, is that because of the tube frame?

Thanks again, sorry for the delay in getting back.

Lou

Sounds like the tractor is nice. How are the hydraulics?
I would say with the year and the motor smoking alittle, I would offer 900-1000. The only reason I would go this high is that there are the attachments.

Bolens Lover,
We have a Bolens HT20 mower. My grandpa bought it new and it is still in great shape. It is hydrostatic and has a 60 in deck, snow plow, tire chins hydraulic lift front and mid. Tractor runs good no smoke. We have a newer mower so it does not get used any more. What would it be worth? Thanks
Matt
