A while back i was driving my Case 190 through some tractor ruts and thought i could turn out of them when the wheel caught the rut. The axle went sideways turning the wheels to the side also. but the tractor kept going and then POP the frame broke and the Hydralic hose popped off causeing oil to go everywhere. the frame was bent in the whole mess. it is bent out just a little. Should i try bending it back before i weld it or should i just weld it and how would you bend it back if you think i should.

Thanx for any help

Don't use a hammer! I had a neighbour who could straighten a motor bike frame with a broom handle!!! Never saw how he did it but that's more the technique.

Why not cut out the bent piece and weld in a new peice? Otherwise cut out enough to let you re-align it by bending and patch it back up.

How bad is it bent? Will it drive straight if you weld it up as is or will it crab sideways? How thick is the frame, 1/4, 5/16; not very easy to bend back without heat and a BFH. I'm assuming it opened up at the break, I'd try to pull it back together and then check the straightness, if it's close, weld it up. If not your gonna need to try and bend it back.

Bill

Thanx i think i'll heat it up and bend it back. Or just pull it to and weld it. I don't think it will crab sideways. Its not that bent.

Thanx for any help
