By using a Shumacher bettery maintainer during the winters, the Interstate battery in my mower lasted 4 years. It was one of the motorcycle type. Went to get a new battery, same place as bought the Interstate. Now all they have are no-name made in China. Price not reduced at all. It will be interesting to see how long this one lasts. But I am not happy about this situation.

Busdriver,
I bought a basket case MTD last summer which was set up for the motorcycle battery. The previous owner had mounted an old army ammo box on the rear and adapted the cables so it could use a standard lawn mower battery. It's kind of ugly, but it's a lot cheaper, and it works fine for me. I can't help you with the China batteries, but you might want to consider a similar "update." Good Luck and God Bless, Tommy

have been using the tiawon and china motorcycle batteries bought out of the jc whitney catalog for many years.they work good, i had a defect once and they sent me a replacement free of charge, but it took 2 weeks. its hard for me to get it thru my head that stuff made in taiwon and china are not junk like in decades past.most of the time its an american ,british or jap co making them there. the same factories that used to be here...buick century are made in china now as is everythng at walmart..i wish it was all still made here,if it was,,maybe i could afford to buy that new us assembled f150 and ranger bass boat that..... well, you get the idea... lucas

Now, don't be too harsh on Wallyworld. Not that I luv-em, I think they are a bunch of marketing cutthroats but that is how we get great value and it must work as they are the largest retailer in the world.

I find lots of "Made in the USA" in their stores including some textiles which surprised me. And, if you aren't happy bring it back no questions asked. Won't get into the pro/con isolationists debate. I just shop em because that's my best value and my $$$ are Deere (er ah Ford) to me.
