My Panzer (T758E) tractor has a Kohler K181 motor, the starter cranks it very slowly or sometimes it just buzzes until I manually move it past the compression stroke. I think it has an automatic decompressor, could this be stuck? what else could it be? I dont think it charges the battery much either, could the rectifier/
regulator be at fault?

I can almost guarantee that it is your battery. I rebuilt the motor on my 110 (K181) and after a few months it did the same thing. I checked the charge and that was fine. The motor had 120# of compression and so that was good but the starter just couldn't get it to turn over once it hit full compression. I'd hook it up to the battery charge for a little extra boost and it sling the piston all day long if it had too so it wasn't the starter. Bought a new battery and it has started and run flawless since. Good luck!

check your battery for charge if thats good check your battery connections to the solenoid and the ground connetion to the frame clean your connections up if nessacery it dosn't sound like a starter problem or the decompression problem yes they do have compression releases if you can't get it to turn over faster by cleaning the cables or charging the battery than your battery is toast BY A NEW BATTERY B4 U TAKE THE ENGINE APART it is easier to try that first and i've been a small engine mechanic fo 5 years trust me cuz i've played this game hundreds of times good luck

ADK Dude, sounds more like starter moter might be on is last leg.or it's just not getting enough juice from battery to spin properly.I would check out the charging system before I tore engine down. You can download a repair manual from
