I have an older yazoo with a 12.5 wisconsin and 60 in cut. My problem is keeping the main deck belts from crossing the double pulley on the output of the engine. Everything seems to be in line. If you leave it engaged it does fine but when you disengage the deck it throws the belts and you don't get a second chance since they are nearly cut into. This trial and error is getting expensive. Has anyone experienced this or know my problem. Thanks Dwayne

Try looking around pulley(s) for belt guides that not adjusted right. Most pulleys on the stuff that I work on anyway, the guids has to be so close to the belt to keep it from comming off the pulleys when disengaged.

The belt guide/retainer that goes over the top
double pulley on the front of the engine needs to
just barely clear the belts and should have bolt
holes large enough to allow a little adjustment. Second the belt guides at the 90 degree turn at
the deck to go to the mower is supposed to have one
finger straight up & down and the other finger 90 degrees horizontal when the mower is engaged. Dont try to make the fingers slow the blades down when the belt is disengaged...they will stop easily just by disengaging the power. Be sure there is not a dragging idler pulley or shaft on the mower deck. also the belt closest to the engine goes to the outside bottom pulley and the bottom grove of the double pulley on the deck.
Good luck. Find an industrial supply house that
will order those narrow belts for you. They are
a lot cheaper. You still have to look out for
sticks that breaks every belt on it. Even then there is no mower under $6,000 that comes even
close. Remember about every part on it can be
made locally...including the mower shafts. sc
