I just purchased an 88 Cub Cadet 1720 Hydro and noticed that there is a lot of noise coming from the rear of the tractor even when sitting in neutral. Are there any fluids, belts etc. I could check?
Thanks

I have the same tractor, mine makes some noise, but i have had no problem with it,there is a belt that runs the tranny you might want to check, there is a transmission resevoir if you look under the left side fender, you will see it on the side of the transmission, take the cap off put your finger in it you should be able to feel oil in the bottom of the resevoir, the oil should barely touch your finger tip.

I checked the fluid in the transmission resevoir. It needs topping up (There was none in the resevoir at all). What type of fluid do I add?
Thanks

You will need to go and get some IH transmission fluid, from the IH dealer or You can use 20-50 Mobil syntheic oil, which is cheaper, I figure pay a high price for the same oil in a different label.
