My 3 yr old Craftsman LT1000 riding mower (42" deck) is leaving a 6" wide strip of uncut grass just to the inside of the right tires. I've sharpened the blades before each cut but that doesn't seem to be the problem. The belt seems tight around all the deck pullies. Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Wow! Ive been reading posts on this site for a long time and i am finally qualified to give an answer. (or at least an opinion). Howie i have the exact same machine and was having the same problem. Last week i put on new blades and cleaned the spindles under the deck. There are two adjustment nuts on this machine just above the deck. The easiest way to find each one is to lower the deck to 5 or 6 and lay on the floor alongside deck. Lift up one side of the deck up and down. You will see and feel where the load is. That threaded rod with nut is for the deck leveling. Do it on level ground.
Good luck Paul

assuming the blades or on correct, Jackshaft bearings are tight and belt not slipping, all I can say is get it on level concrete floor and follow manual for leveling the deck. Maybe you hit something at one time or another and knocked it out of kelter.
