I put a new clutch in 70 over weekend and when to start her up last night and wouldn't start. Check everything over thought maybe banged a wire or something. Finally put spark plug tester on spark plug and she started like a dream. As long as I leave the plug tester on she starts and runs. Put plug wire on plug and won't hit a lick. I replace plug wire and checked plug and still won't run unless plug tester is hooked up. My plug tester is a NAPA one where you adjust spark length and hooks on top of plug. Anyone have an idea, I need to mow tonight. Thanks

If your K161 has a breaker point ignition system, try checking and setting the Breaker Points to .020. This sounds like a problem of a weak spark that will not jump a gap under compression. If the points are not opening the correct distance, the condensor doesn't store enough energy to make a good spark; when you make it jump another gap, your spark plug tester, you are correcting this problem. In the "old" days this was setting the dwell angle. LOL, PJCW.

Start with the easiest and replace spark plug first.
