I have a 3HP edger with B&S engine. It starts easy and runs fine until the engine is put under moderate strain. It stalls out even if the load on the engine is removed when it begins to stall out. The engine then restarts easy but will stall again when under load. Where should I begin to look for the problem?

I'd pull the spark plug immediately following the stall and check the color.

If it's "whiteish" in color, it's running lean. If it's quite dark it could be running too rich (though I doubt it will be rich).

In either case, the carb needs adjustment.

If the plug is a chocolate brown color (normal), then I'd move on to the ignition system.

Have you tried installing a new, properly gapped spark plug?

Check the governor/linkage make sure it's working. Carb. might be set to lean also.
