I have a 5 horse B&S on a Craftsman snowblower that will not idle,it will run at full throttle but when you slow to idle the Rpm will surge up and down,I have tried making adjustments to the carburetor but have not had any luck so far.Any suggestions?

Try Berryman Chemtrol B12 sold at Walmart for about $2.75. Add to gas and it will clean the passages while it is running. My lawnmowers do the same thing and Chemtrol fixes them without having to tear into the carb. Put a new spark plug into it once in a while also.

I am afraid you have a dirty carb. at least the idle circuit is plugged up. This happens on equip. that sits like generators, snow equip. tillers anything that sits for more than 6 weeks. The fuel goes bad and starts gumming passages up. Rebuild the carb.
