I have nearly 5 acres which are hilly with A LOT of TREES. Have you heard of any problems with the all wheel steering? Which would you rather have an AWS or zero turn mower? and Why? We are looking at a JD 455 AWS vs a newer zero turn.

Thanks,
Jackie

What year, hrs, how much $$ for the 455. That's
a lot of solid machinery.

Well, i never had a REAL lawn mower untill i bought my Grasshopper 721-D 61" zero turn mower.

Compared to the garden tractors i own or used in the past (Kubota, Bolens, Allis Chalmers, Wheel Horse, JD 345, Old Sears, new Sears, ect.. ect..) there no comparison!!! My GH mows my grass in half the time, mows much "cleaner", and is easier to use. It also "rides much better!!!" That's important to me because i have some issues with my back.

I have about 800 hours on the GH, and i won't be going back to a wanna-be lawn mower again.

BTW, you can put a snow blade or snow blower on the front of GH too, along with several other accessories!! Very easy to change, and the blower does a very good job..

Call me old fashion, but personally I'm not that impressed with zero turn mowers. Been on at least three different brands of them and I just don't care for them. I'll stick with my old Bolens, that is older than I am, and trailer mower that I tag along with it. It mows around the trees the same way the zero turns do. But that's just my preference.
