I have a Dayton garden tractor that is in somewhat good shape that I need info on. It is a front engine 8hp briggs electric start and I believe it is about 10-15 years old. Gold in color with Dayton decals down both sides and has a 34" deck. I need some parts for it and I can't find a listing on this tractor. It may be made by MTD but I am not sure. Any info would be appreciated greatly!

Hello Steve M, I'm sorta in the same boat with a Dayton Professional 16/44 Model 3z805D141D, Serial No 41-016-1801.. Has a v-twin 16hp, 44" deck and is a Hydro Stat... My specific question is what fluid is/was recommended for the hydorstatic drive.. It has not been touched for over 20 years and I would really like to change the HS fluid and filter.. Thanks, Johnny Steele, Wichita Kansas.. And yes it is like one of your follow-up messages, was sold by W.W. Granger...about 1975

hello johnny, I have the same tractor and I have never changed hydrostatic oil but have added some. I used an automatic transmission fluid which was listed in my manual Either Texaco2209,General motors Dexron B,Ford m2c-33f,Mobil Fluid 300 or a good quality SAE 20 High Detergent oil. Maybe you can help me? I'm looking for parts for my mower deck and the company I got parts from before (Grainger)can't pull up this model anymore because it is to old. Where can I get Parts?

If I don't miss my guess, Dayton is the house brand for W.W.Grainger & Co. They are an industrial supply house with locations all over the U.S. If you call toll-free directory assistance, you can get their number so that someone can translate your model number to whatever manufacturer built it for them.
