What model of John Deere?

Close to 20 years ago I came across a garden tractor that I seem to remember as being made by John Deere.

It had a Briggs and Stratton or Wisconsin single cylinder engine that set over a single drive wheel at the front of the unit.

There was a steering wheel and behind that was kind of a surry with a seat for one to ride on. I tend to remember that the cultivator was attached to the surry part nearly beneath you for easy visibility.

Anyone know what model that might have been, or if indeed it was a John Deere? I do remember it being green and probably from the 1940s or early '50s.

Too bad it wasn't for sale or I might just go look at it for the info.

Sounds like a Bolens Ridemaster.

Search for ATVs (all terrain vehicles) on the Web or go to your local motorcycle dealer to look at them first hand.

Bingo! That's the right one. in reply to Tinker, 02-23-2005 19:41:02
Thanks for identifying that one for me. I don't know how well they worked, but I like the idea of being up close and personal with my vegetable work. It would be easy to see if the planter still had plenty of seed on those one row plantings.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Interesting photos. I have a gas tank, hood, grill assembly for one of those. I wondered what it was for. I will sell it if anyone is interested.

Nope, that is not it. The one I'm speaking of has a larger surry and there is a seat on it for you to ride on.

Somewhere in this house of mine I have a photo that is currently buried. If and when I find it I'll try to get some help to post it.

Thanks for trying anyway.
