We have a 445 that ran fine till I parked it outside to sell it. I went out Sat. and it would not start, it is not pumping fuel. I can not hear the fuel pump run. Don`t tell me to buy a book, I said it is for sale. Any ideas? Thanks, KJM

I am not 100% sure about the fuel injected engines, but I know on the Kawasaki carburated engines they have a relay that runs the fuel pump. Do not know if JD uses that relay, but a lot of the others do and it wont hurt to look for one on this one.

Smack the fuel tank, near the pump a couple times. Sometimes the pumps stick. and the shock of being hit gets them to run again.

The pump will only get power and run for a few seconds with the key in the ON postion, and engine not running or cranking over. Pump will resume running when you turn the key to the START position to crank it, and stay running for as long as the engine runs.

Try to hit the tank in the time period where the pump is receiving power.

There are also 2 fuses on the right hand side, under the steering column. Open the hood, and then remove the plastic side cover to get access to it. You should find a circuit board with 2 fuses, and a bunch of wires plugged in to it. Make sure both fuses are good.
