Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have a 1975 model 129 12 hp. I can't control the drive speed, it wants to take off an run at full speed. I've already installed the spacer washers on the spring in the linkage. This thing's gonna kill me one of these days.
Thanks,
Scott

Remove the cover that is on top of the drive shaft
between your legs and check the adjustment at the
bottom of the hydro control shaft. Follow the lever and rod down to the bottom. It takes an allen wrench and a small wrench to tighten. This should make your lever have more friction. Tighten this just enough to give some resistance but not too tight to make it hard to move. Also,
on the hydro pump itself, there is a dampner spring and it should have a washer on each end of the spring. Check to see that the washer has not worn into the bracket. If it has, I just spot weld it and file it smooth and it will work like new. Do not add extra washers in there!

Scott, There is a plate with a curved slot cut into it that is wore out, it has a bolt & bushing that run in the slot & if there is any play in the bolt it will work like that. I have replaced a few of them on cubs that I have had. Good luck Dan
