Best garden tractor for pulling heavy loads?

I need another garden tractor to do some mowing but mostly for lugging around loads of vegetables, soil, etc. I use an ATV wagon rated at 2200 lbs, so maybe I should just get an ATV???
I"m thinking that a Snapper or MF with a 20hp motor may do the job providing their transmissions are up to it. I"m looking for ideas and appreciate your comments.
Thanks

I would get a Gravely 800 or 400 series.

you dont say what your willing to spend or if any other uses besides pulling (ie snow blower etc) also you odnt say if your wanting to mow alot or alittle and what terrain you have hilly or flat. any 425445 or 455 jd will work for you hydro trans and tranny cooler neede4d for pulling no belt drives belts clutches and pullies over time will cost more then the price of a hydro upfront. also f1145 or 1445 etc would work very well for you. 485,495,585 595 are also options that would work well and last a while

Lots of big lawn tractors will pull the cart. And of the better wheel horse, IH cubs and bigger JD will be fine. The cubs have direct drive and an auto style clutch which is why the make such great pulling (as in contest) tractors. However if you get into any uneven ground any of these will quickly lose traction. They all mow fine.

ATVs will pull great but not mow. Same goes for small farm tractors like the ford N. Nothing looks prettier pullen veggies than an old 8N. They dont make good lawn mowers though.

I would try an older IH Cub.

I would look for a early JD 140 hydro or The Gravely 4-wheel tractor like an 812 or later 8123. If you want something newer look at the compact utility tractors. The only problem with them is they are all imports.

Let me put my 2 cents in on this subject. If you are looking for something to mow AND pull 2000#, consider a Dixie Chopper zero turn, even the low end commercial Coatsville classic has a transmission and frame rated to pull one ton. That way you will have a machine that will mow fast, but still be able to pull a 2000# load. Just anothe option.

Leland,
No sir I did not get to, could have sat on it and got a picture, but, I figured with my luck, it would fall over and my a$$ would be in deep doodoo. As for busy, it was the best show I have ever had down there, don't know if it was the Dixie Bike or what, but it sure brought a lot for me. Jim

Wheelhorse is a good option as is an old Power King tractor. Those things will pull anything and they mow pretty nice too. More like a small tractor than a lawn mower.

If you can find a old Wheel Horse with the eight speed transmission and a 10 to 14 hp engine then you got all you need. The Wheel Horse Unidrive transmission coupled to a Kohler engine is a time proven combination ..... been doing it since 1958! Wheel Horse parts are easy to get and a whole lot cheaper then other brands , these tractors were made so you can work on them your self.
Bill in Richmond , Va. P.S. Sorry guys ..... ya' know I bleed Wheel Horse Red ! >8^)
