Briggs oil leak

I have a 11hp Roper garden tractor with a Briggs and Straton IC motor that only leaks oil when running. It seems that it is comming from the oil filling tube, but I've tightened and sealed it to no avail. It doesn't leak below the frame, only on top, so is there a top seal that can be easily replaced??

Thanks

Have two of these on two different tractors, both leaked in the same place. Assuming this is a vertical shaft, look underneath the cylinder right where it joins the crancase. You should see this assembly is bolted to another section of crankcase. That seam is where both of mine leaked. Rather than take the engine apart to replace the gasket, I thoroughly cleaned the seam with carb cleaner and compressed air and smeared silicone all over the area. Waited over night and no more leaks. Might be worth a try. btw, after you get the area clean, run the engine a little to see if the oil does in fact come from there. If that's it, re-clean and do the silicone.

From the description, it sounds like there may be excessive blow by probably ring and cylinder wear, or at a minimum, rings failing to seat properly.

You can check to make sure the breather is working correctly, but if that is functioning correctly, engine wear is the issue.
