Thanks Kent T and G.T. Mike for your help on the Gilson ID. Any pics I could dig up on Gilson does not have the foot rests like this. Is your 60's like this G.T.? Just trying to narrow down the approx. year built. Thanks again-Jack

I don't think those front wheels are factory either.

Mine has very similar foot-rests, just a different color. Your best bet is to look on the sheet metal shroud on the engine for its type, model and serial number. You'll find a seven digit one in that series, like 1741012. Drop the 1st number. The last six are the date the engine was made, in this example, 1974, October, 12.

Your tractor won't be made on the same day, but likely within a few months...

Looks just like what I have, Gilson 12hp 1974 model. Just broke drive shaft and don"t have anything to repair it with.

Thanks to all of you-we now know the brand and he should be able to tell the year by engine, or at least close. Jack

ps-where abouts Steve from MO-dangit? Used to say that myself then moved to AZ many years ago. I grew up around the St. Joe area-later Carrolton and Columbia. Jack
