The Allis Chalmers 912 6 speed, and the hydro model have a 12HP Kohler... K301 John Deere 212 also has a 12 HP kohler, K301. Same model, but not necessarily the exact same engine. The engines can have different oil pans (different shape on bottom), crankshafts (length and diameter), and other provisions depending on what the application for it was (and what the tractor manufacturer wanted). Even starters and charging systems can be different. For example, JD 210 has a K241 10HP Kohler, same as my Case 220. However, my Case has a Generator/starter, that uses a belt. Wheres as the Deere uses a gear driven starter with a bendix, and a separate charging system under the flywheel. For more information on your Allis 912, go to www.simpletractors.com If you're looking to swap the engines, check carefully. The oil pans can usually be swapped without any trouble, but swapping a crankshaft is a bit more difficult.
