The wire is the kill switch wire. It should go to a kill switch or button. Since it's a magneto ignition, the wire must be open (disconnected) for the engine to run. If you ground that wire, it shorts out the mag and stops the spark to kill the engine. So run it to a switch, with the other side of the switch connected to the engine block. When you open the switch, it should run. When you close the switch, the engine will die.

Simple, eh?

flywheel- if it is the newer aluminium type i use a 1/4" tap. then tap the two blank holes on the top of flywheel. then i thread some bolts in and use a stearingwheel puller and it comes right off. the pullers are cheap. you can get them just about any local auto parts store. DO NOT hit, tap, or pry on the top of the crank , or flywheel. the older ones i use a jaw puller. perry in michigan

oh yea, dont forget to take off the flywheel nut. its should be a 15/16 deep socket. a air gun is the best to use, since the flywheel will want to turn when trying to loosen the nut by hand. if you loosen the nut buy had you can slide a big screw driver threw the fins on the top of the flywheel. BE CAREFULL, if the nut is really tight you take the risk of breaking the fins on the flywheel. try and use a air gun if available.
