I have a Snapper lt 16 with a twin cylender briggs on it, I bought the mower used its in great shape. The engine doesnt use any oil, but it runs rough, I have to blow into the fuel tank to get it to start sometimes, me and my dad put new fuel lines on it new fuel filter, cleaned the carb on it and its still doin the same thing. Like i said I have to blow in the tank to get it to start and when it does its running rought back fires some too, any of you guys know whats wrong with it. If I could get the engine to run right this mower would be great, it mows wonderful, good solid mower no rust.

Running lean. Not enough fuel...could be filter or fuel pump. Fuel pumps either work or don't.

Could be that the vent in the gas tank cap is clogged. Take off the cap and see if it runs better. If so...clean the vent or replace the cap.

It sounds to me like a coil wire diode or a coil itself.
Usually..... it won't backfire unless it is ignition.

Check for a fuel pump and see if it works,if not replace or rebuild it if possible.Check fuel screens and filters also (some of them are hidden inside the fittings??)
