Hello,
bought an old Roto-hoe chipper shredder off ebay a couple weeks ago(did not pay much for it)Had a monkey wards/briggs 5 hp on it ( off a tiller I think) got it home and put in new points& condenser, cleaned tank and carb, etc... Fired it up today. Started and ran ok at first, then when I shut it off and tried to restart it would kick back like the points were set wrong..pulled it down checked em.. right on .020, stuck it back together same thing but I got it started, revved it up an adjusted the carb.. idled it down and a couple minutes later it started knocking and blew. Tore it down.. rod, crank, and block are trashed, found 1 rod bolt loose in engine the threads on it and whats left of con rod are still good. so I guess I know what happened. Anybody got a decent 5 horse briggs(horizontal) they wanna get rid of?? Thanks...Mike
