I want to find a JD model 70 to restore. Are parts hard to find? What would a complete one be worth? This will be a father/son project. Does anyone know what the origianl engine was in a 70? Thanks for your help.

I restored one several years ago. The cast iron block verticle Tecumseh has been extinct for some years now. There are rebuild kits in up to .030 oversize still available. I'm not sure about valve guides though. It was a neat little tractor, but I sold it off for about 400 bucks. Like everything else, I kinda wished I kept it.

I bought one last year for $50.00 with a bad engine and needing 3 tires to be used. orignal engine is a 7 hp techumsa which I hear is hard to come by. My use for it is going to be a mini puller for my grandson so I haven't checked on available stock parts but to build one up as a puller can get into big bucks quick so I am keepin a lazy eye out for stuff. If you want them I still have a good starter, blade clutch, and the original wheels, Sorry I scrapped all the deck stuff.

Where are you located? If distance is not a problem I would be interested in your parts.
