I have two - one came off a go-cart and is mostly complete. One is on a chipper-shredder and in complete but has a broken rod. I was planning on putting the good one on the chipper, and I will have parts left over.

If you need a whole one, wouldn't you be better off with a newer engine? Alternatively, if you need to satisfy the correct police, I could sell you mine and buy a newer one.

I need an original, am starting a restoration on a minibike and would like to use an original.

I have a Tecumseh 5hp HS-50 coming, but it isnt the correct one for the bike. If you are interested I would be willing to throw it in with some cash as a swap deal, or just buy your H-50 direct.

If you would be interested in talking about it, send me an email with your number and I can call you.

Thanks a lot for your reply,

Tom Long

Cool, sounds like what I am looking for.

Any chance you can send me a picture? I am pretty sure I will want to buy it off you, we just need to set a price and arrange shipping.

If you want, you can email me with your phone and I can call.

Thanks,
Tom

Let me get you some data first. in reply to Tom Long, 02-24-2006 14:27:00
I"ll make sure this is actually an H50 with the right serial number. Do you know where on the motor it should be? Tecumseh put them in several places, some of them even on the sheet metal.

I have not started this one, but it has compression, so I am assuming that the internal parts are mostly ok.

It has a rattle can paint job, too. Sorry about that.

I think you can find it on the top of the cover along the head. But, as you say it might be differant, might be along one of the sides on a data plate.

One quick way to tell an H50 from an HS50 is this, on the H50 the carb is closer to the front (recoil starter side), on the HS50 the muffler is closer to the recoil starter.

Thanks again,
Tom

Steve,

Sounds like it might be the engine I am looking for.

If you would email me your phone number I would like to call you, or if you just send me your email I can send you my number.

Thanks,
Tom Long

Once last try Steve, are you interested in selling the engine and helping me out?

Thanks
Tom

Yep,

I put a carb on it and adjusted the timing well enough to start it. Old dirty carb needs tuning and adjustment so it runs rough. I doubt if there is anything much more than that needed since the compression is so good. Part of one of the cooling fins is chipped off and this could effect balance at some speeds but if the ballance is not good enough you could just add some weight to that spot.
