Hey you L&G guys, I need a little help on something that you all will probably think is trivial. We have a 1420 and a 1720 with the Sunstrand Hydro, and they both have stopped pulling. What do I need to look for? Are books with breakdowns available? I am thinking first off maybe filter(s)? and new fluid...making sure nothing is blocked. Just wanted to see if you guys had any additional input.
Thanks, 995Lugmatic

If they are the Peerless unit, these units are "throwaways". These hydros have not filter and no way to add oil. When they go bad you put a new one in. These hydros are NOT the HEAVY DUTY unit like the 50 series cub used.

Are you indicating, that the Cubs you mentioned are used for "pulling"...??

Oh...sorry. No. Just mean that you push the stick forward and you dont go. No longer "pulls" itself along. Poor word choice I suppose. No actual pulling done, just mowing.

In further investigation, these Cub Lawn Tractor Models have a "Peerless" transmission in them and not the traditional Sundstrand as seen in Cubs Garden Tractor Series. I have no experience with this brand of transmission.

Ok. According to my dad who has the mowers at his place, the hydros are Sundstrands. I actually mentioned that in my original post, but I guess that got missed. Anyway...now what? Filter? Fluid? Manual? Where does a guy go?
Thanks again.
