I have a new yard man 42" mower. The manual says to charge it for 1+ hours at 6 amp on a 12 volt charger. Since when did they put a 12 v not a 6v in mowers?

I've got 2 old Cub Cadet lawn mowers. One is 39 years old, the other is 38. Both are 12 volt and have been since new from the factory.

6 volt on a lawn mower is extremely rare. 99% of them are 12 volt, negative ground, and have been since they started making them electric start.

To be honest, I can't say I've ever seen a 6 volt in anything except in old farm equipment, cars and trucks.

as in my 71 cub 126 has a 12 volt. That's what he means by away. I've never seen a 6 volt rider mower

Your old Ford also probably has a positive ground. Ford put that type of setup on their farm tractors. Older Ford tractors usually are converted to twelve volt systems by their owners.

Well I'll be... Learn something new everyday. My Cub, Wheelhorse, and MTD are all 12 volt
