Anybody had any luck turning down the ordinary 1" dia Tecumseh TVM220 crank to 7/8"dia so it will bolt to the JD pulley set? I did see refernce to a crank #37660 which is supposed to be 7/8"dia & 3-5/32 long, hen's teeth there too. I want to set the origional 7HP aluminum block engine aside a acollector's piece before it pitches a rod through the block. It's pretty gutless too on the old model 68 JD mower. A 10HP TVM220 with electric start would reduce the complaints from the women folk around here. Less stalling and easier starting.

If you could come up with another pully set it might be easier to bore ou the pulley to 1 inch unless the pulley is one of the "tin type" where there is not room to bore the hub.

The mower drive pulley is on a kind of extention bolted to the end of the crank. If the pulleys were both directly mounted on the crank then a 1" shaft would be no problem. I'll have to keep looking for a 37660 crank. Or put another little under powered engine on there.
