Hi,

This is my first tractor (917.254520). It came with the house that my wife and I moved into last August.

It always kind of lurched a bit in 3rd gear, but today, it just won't move in 3rd. Just to see what would happen, while it was in third, I hopped off and pushed it to see if it would catch. It caught for about a foot and then stoped again.

I'm assuming that I've lost most of the teeth on third gear? Is there any fix for this other than a new transaxle ... i.e. get a new tractor ?

Thanks

Bill

Have you been to the Sears parts site to see if any transaxle internal parts are available?

Also, try posting over on the Technical Forum at perr.com.

There's good folks over there who will know about your tranny, if anyone will!

cool thanks Bob

yeah, I checked out the online parts but I can't tell what I need from the diagram. The closest thing I found was just the whole transaxle assembly.

I'll take it over to perr.com

thanks again!
