The rear axle assembly is a different p/n mostly
because of the axles and axle housings. I can't
imagine that the complete assemblies couldn't be
switched. The driveshafts are compl.different but
looks as if the l655 has a universal vs.the 1650
with a splined coupler. Poss. it would hook up.
The 1650 powered by 16hp Kohler(wt.1040 lbs).The
1655 has 16hp Onan(wt.1120lbs).Built '77 and '78
Then Snapper bought out and there first ones were
the same-saw a new Snapper at the fair and still
had MF s/n plate. Chuck
