Are Cadet 81's worth anything? Are they rare? I got one for free from a neighbor. It runs good, cuts great. I need a fiberglass hood for it. where can I get one?

The model 81 is and was considered by IH, a Lawn Tractor. As Rusty stated, the Lawn Tractor Series was to compete in the "entry level market". It had the Cub Cadet name, but not the traditional and famous cast iron rear end nor the Kohler motor.

i think those were the cheapo models they so hardware stores could sell an IH mower. just a riding mower, not really a tractor. if it works good, then its worth something. if you've ever seen the movie "the straight story", Alvin Straight tries to drive a Cadet mower across Iowa, but only makes it a short ways before it breaks down. so he takes a shotgun to it, then buys a Deere. try ihregistry.com and ihcubcadet.com. they may be able to help you find a hood. i understand they all broke, and the guy in the movie had a broken hood too.
