I have a 1512 Cub Cadet with the Kubota Diesel and a hyrdo-static transmission. The transmission leaks from a nut/plug on top of the tranny and it is coming out of the hole that is in the middle of the plug/nut. There are two of these plugs and it is on the right hand side if you were looking down between your legs if you were sitting on the seat. Why and how do I fix it? It leaks when the tractor is sitting still, but if you are moving forward, it usually wont leak, unless you are putting the engine under load like going up a hill.

The plug is tight and again, it comes out the small hole in the middle of the plug.

Thanks,

Jason

Those devices are called Check Valves. Those check valves are interchangeable between sides. If you were to cut one of these check valves open, you would see a couple of "O" rings. Unfortunately, these O rings do wear out and there is NO FIX for these valves. You have two options, (A) tolerate the leaking and keep checking your fluid level, or (B) Replace the defective check valve.

Thanks for the info. I will have to replace the check valve since it leaks like crazy. I will go through all the oil in about 1 hour. :)

It has been leaking for a long time, but it got really bad in a hurry.

Take care.
