are there any modifications i can perform to make more power while still using all stock componets? I'm building another garden tractor puller, and have decided not to burn to much money up into this one.
thanks, slowride>

Basics- port and polish intake and exhaust. Some flatheads like Kohlers have slightly angeled valves so head is partially shrouded- relieve valve seat/block area- Cub Cadet furom had a short artice on that with a k241. Exhaust into straight pipe or expansion chamber. .010-020 planed off head to raise compression abou 1/2 point. Camshaft and timing require parts swap- lwave them stock unless want to spend $. Tweak governor up about 2-300 rpm only. Intake air cone between air cleaner and carb, match carb/gasket/port sixe. RN

Advancing the timing will give you a hp boost of about 1 1/2 to 2 hp.

Are you sure this is a Briggs engine? Sounds like a Kohler.

Hey slowride I can't help you on your pulling question but I've got a basket full of parts for a model 283707 type 0152 01 code 9305034D I need to get rid of them but I hate to throw them away. Rod bearing locked up broke a rod punched a hole in the block and the rest is history have a lot of usable parts minus starter and mag coil. Willing to work something out, crank was standard OD so can be turned and make a good spare. E-mail me at bottom selection we can work something out. CT
