I have a 5216 Simplicity that is not running right. It runs like it's choked all the time. I took it to the local dealer and he installed a carb kit. I brought it home and it's still running bad. Just as it's about to run out of gas, it runs great...for about 20 seconds, then it's out. I think I've done the easy stuff, ...plugs, air filter, carb...can someone tell me what I'm missing!! Thanks.

Check your fuel solonoid. It works by 12 volts so when you turn the key off it won't let gas get to the carb. It gets sticky even though it may move then it makes the engine run like it is lean or rich.It is on the left side of the carb if you were sitting on the tractor. Pull it out and clean it and then try it. If it does not work right, pull it back off then cut the plunger off flush with cutters and reinstall it. Let me know if you have it running yet either way and if you still have it or not. Thanks, Marty

i would also check points, condenser, & coil. could have bad or weak spark. also try and adjust your main jet srew on the carb while its running bad.

I"ve had a similar problem. The problem was rectified with a new fuel filter and gas line since I had it apart. Pulling the steering wheel is no treat. Good luck. Hope this fixes it.

First thing I'd check for is a bad float or float needle.

Also make sure the choke is actually closing.

I misread the description of your symptoms. I concur with Larry. Good luck.
