In order to move the tractor when it is not running, pull the disengagement lever up. That will press the transmission valves down into a neutral position. jb9959

I am sorry. Yes, there was a change over from Manual to Automatic Check Valves. For the 1650, the Manual Check Valves were from S/N: 530001 to 590521. The Automatic Check Valves were used on tractors with S/N 590522 to 664996.

You can simply push or pull the tractor for short distances with no issues.

The 1650 was part of Cub's "Quiteline" series. The motor sat in a cradle that had rubber "iso mounts". If these go bad, as they usually do after 30 yrs, they will cause vibration. There is a Service Kit to replace worn iso mounts. The second thing to look at, is the "flex disc couplers" that are in each end of the drive shaft. Here again, after 30 yrs, these may be warped, torn, or distorted and may need replacing.
