I got a Cub 1000 as part of a house deal. It seems to be very solid and runs fine. I am totally new to the lawn tractor world but an old hand at the push mower world.

I have the manual and have not read it yet but scanned it for the subject of gear grinding and clutch adjustment. The only reference I found to the subject of gear grinding is under the section on 'brake adjustment'. I haven't figured out why brakes would affect the clutch operation. Any pointers on this?

Thanks. this is a great board for newcomers to the small tractor world.

ReRead the Manual but it very simple you need to set the brakes up so that brake will not come on before clutch.
