Benefits of solid state ignition?

I have some Kohler K-301's. Still have points, which I usually change once a season, and use the proper method of the timing light to set them. Im assuming someone makes a solid state ignition for these. Is there a benefit, other than not changing points? I dont seem to have starting problems, even though they sometimes get stored outside in the rain, or in below zero weather. These are on Cub Cadets, its fairly easy to change points. Thanks.

If you have to change points often , change the condenser.

My 2 "69" 14hp K-321"s have the orig. solid state ignitions and haven"t touched them in over 15 years of owning them, except to change spark plugs.
IMO they are very good systems.

Yup....You are basically right. Less frequent points changes. Click on this link. Scroll down to the "point saver" section.
