I thank you all for the reply,I do relize I can meter the output but I do not have a meter. Also the engine is brand new in a box and never been ran.I want to know the alt capacity to determine if it would be suitable to use with a electric cluch. That is why I asked about reading the code.

You can check any vehicle's charging system by measuring the voltage at the battery with a volt meter. Hal

The first numbers in the B&S model number is engine displacment in CUBIC INCHS. If the model number is 5 digit it is the first number. If the model number is 6 digits, displacment is the first two numbers. your engine is 30 CID which is a lot differant than 30 CC.

The way you find the amperage is to get the color of the connector on the alternator, then you can find out the out put and if it is DC only or AC/DC out put

They're all 12 volt electrical systems. Max you should see at your battery is about 14.8 volts with the engine at full throttle. Anything between 13 and 14.8 shows its being charged. If its less than 12.5, its not.

I don't have the chart handy with what each digit means, but here is a basic guide.

Model # contains the engine displacement (usually in cubic centimeters), as well as the type of carb (updraft, downdraft, flo-jet, pulse-jet, etc), type of starter (pull rope or electric), and the type of bearings on the crankshaft at the PTO and Flywheel side.

The type # is specific to the engine, contains paint code, and other info usually only the factory understands. Believe it also has info such as crank length and diameter, but I don't know of any decoding chart for the type #.

The Code # contains the year the engine was made. Feb 13 2006 for yours.
first 2 digits are the year, next 2 are the month, the next 2 are the day, and the last I believe are the assembly line ID, or the number of the day...
