Can one of you expert Cub Cadet fans tell me if I could get a 50inch replacement deck for my mid to late 1980s model 1811. I need just the bare deck, no spindles or blades. The deck is rusted very badly (holes). Where might be the best/cheapest place and a price estimate? The 18 hp Kohler engine is still strong(~1200hrs, so I hate to get rid of the whole unit and spend big bucks for a newer mower if I don't really need to. The only other problem is a sticky starter drive. I have a local Cub dealer, but need a price comparison to know if he's reasonable.

Where are you located? Last time I checked on a new shell (fall 2005), a dealer in Delaware had them for $400. I think I would rather put a new one on and keep it cleaned more than chance getting a used one and have it rust out in a few years. A new one should last another 15 to 20 years. Tough finding solid used ones in my area. Seems no one likes to clean out the undersides during the season.Used ones on Ebay i've seen go for $200 to $350.

Try R.F. Houtz and sons in Elburn, Il. he has a huge supply of used Cub parts. Look up his web site in Google.

You should look for a "50C" model deck. There were three (3) different styles of 50 inch deck. The above one is correct for your Cub.

I would suggest searching places like Ebay. You probably can pick a whole deck up for around $100.00,

I think those deck skins are $500+ from Cub.

I have the same problem with my 1806. Any info would be great for a deck and rack replacement for a 44C. Both are worn out, 1900 hrs. What is the newest deck that is compatible with this unit? Also this unit has had a clutch issue since new. A clutch only lasts about 3 to 4 years and i do not ride it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

You could try e-bay "Cub Cadet 1811" or "Cub Cadet Mower Decks".

You could also check with your Cub Cadet parts dealer.
