On the newer ones a screw in plug replaces the adjustable jet....has anyone/or does anyone know,if the jet/needle from the older carbs can replace the"fixed" jet?Or is the carb intenally different?I have a "fixed jet" one here that I absolutely cannot get"dialed in" :(

The plug is so you can replace the main jet. The plug also allows easy access to the jet when the engine gets a few hour on it and need a little richer mixture. You can increase the size of the jet with a set of NUMBER sized drill bits. I normally find the bit that will slip into the jet and then drill the jet out one drill size at a time until the engine is nit running lean. If you go to far you can replace the jet and start over.
