Tractor problems with a simplicity 6200 series

I recently had someone put a new engine in my 6200 series simplicity(84) and now when i go to put it in gear belt does not stop put new belts on also, the gears grind when i try to shift...can anyone help me if so please email me or respond to this message thanks.

I'm not sure if your tractor is the same as my dad's (he has two very old simplicity riders), but I do know he has had that problem, too. The secret is in the part that bolts to the motor and surrounds the drive pulleys like a backwards "C". You have to adjust this part to just rub on the belt(S) when you push on the clutch and /or disengage the mower. what it does is squeeze theloose belt slightly and make a loop of clearance between the belt and drive pulley. if it isn't set right, or if it gets bent or knocked out of position, the loose belt will still turn, and that is what grinds the gears when you try to shift(and/or keeps the mower deck going when you disengage that).
